South Boston woman dead following Monday afternoon crash

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A young woman from South Boston is dead after crashing into a tree in Halifax County Monday afternoon.

According to Virginia State Police, state troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Sinai Road at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Monday, April 5.

Police say a 2009 Kia Optima ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver — identified by authorities as 20-year-old Avae E. Terry of South Boston — was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash.

The crash is reportedly still under investigation.
