South Boston Police investigate armed robbery at Apple Market

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery that took place Saturday night at an Apple Market convenience store in South Boston.

According to the South Boston Police Department, a 911 call came in at approximately 7:38 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 for an armed robbery at the store at 1424 Seymour Drive.

South Boston police officers and deputies with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reportedly responded to the scene.

Witnesses say a man entered the store, showing what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money.

According to police, a customer who was entering the store was also robbed of his wallet and other items by the individual. After the robbery, the subject reportedly ran away from the store with an unknown amount of cash.

The department says a deputy and his K-9 tracked the individual for a short distance before losing the track.

Authorities say the man was described as being between 5’9″ and 5’10” tall; having a slender build; and wearing a black hoodie, a black mask, and clothing.
