SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WFXR) — The South Boston Fire Department wants residents to know the Fire Department is not going door to door to check smoke alarms.

The announcement comes after a woman reported two individuals posing as members of the fire department, even flashing a badge, trying to gain access to her home, on Thursday, July 15.

South Boston fire officials advise anyone who encounters a similar situation to not let the person(s) into their home and to notify police if you feel that is necessary.
