UPDATE: Danville Police say missing North Carolina man found safely

UPDATE 5:18 a.m. (10/18/21): Police announced early Saturday morning that James Mitchell Scott — a missing and endangered North Carolina man with possible ties to Danville — had been found safely in Charlotte, N.C.

DANVILLE, Va. (WXFR) — The Danville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a North Carolina man, possibly suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, who may have personal connections to Danville.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert during the early morning hours on Friday, Oct. 15 for a missing endangered man, James Mitchell Scott.

According to officials, Scott is 81 years old with white hair and blue eyes. He is 5’10” tall and weighs 220 pounds.

Scott reportedly wears glasses and was last seen wearing navy blue sweatpants, green, black, and tan polo shirt, and navy blue sneakers.

He was last seen driving a white 2013 Toyota Avalon with North Carolina tags.

He last seen on Camden Falls Court in Greensboro, NC.

Anyone with information that could lead to finding Scott is asked to call Danville Emergency Communications Center at 434-799-5111 or Detective M.J. Hester with the Winston Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700.
