UPDATE 11:11 a.m. (11/17 ) — Early on Thursday morning, Danville Police Department (DPD) detectives made an arrest in relation to the shooting incident.

According to DPD, detectives have arrested 20-year-old Deshawn Delane Richardson. He is currently charged with the following:

  • aggravated malicious wounding
  • possession of a stolen firearm
  • use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

Richardson was transported to the Danville City jail with no bond.

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Piney Forest Rd, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to police, the suspect and the victim met at their vehicles in the parking lot prior to the shooting. Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident.

The man shot was transported for medical treatment but is expected to be okay.
