UPDATE 5:16 p.m.: WFXR News has learned the identity of the student who died in Thursday’s single-car crash in Henry County on Soapstone Road.

Magna Vista High School senior Nick Pruitt died as a result of his injuries sustained in the wreck.

Another student remains in critical condition from injuries sustained in the crash.

At this time, the condition of the other two car occupants is unknown.

UPDATE 2:42 p.m.: Authorities have released new information surrounding a vehicle crash that closed all lanes along Route 687 in Henry County Thursday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers were called out to the 5100 block of Soapstone Road for a single-car crash at 8:24 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4.

WFXR News has learned that three minors were airlifted to a nearby hospital and another died.

State troopers on the scene say that there have been six to seven crashes on Soapstone Road since 2019. In 2019 there were a total of 14 crashes.

In addition, police told WFXR News there have been six crashes this year, not including the crash that happened on Thursday.

There is no word on the conditions of the students who were airlifted out. The crash remains under investigation.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — In Henry County, motorists may run into delays because of a vehicle crash closing all lanes along Route 687.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 687 near Lee Ford Camp Road, Magna Vista School Road, Turfman Drive, and Route 1060.

VDOT has yet to provide an estimate of the current delays resulting from the wreck.
