DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The City of Danville has been working to reduce violent crime for years.

Several organizations have come together to offer an event aimed at ending violence in the River City by hosting the 2021 Annual “Rock D’ Block” community event by connecting teens to existing opportunities in the community.

The free event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 26 between 4 and 8 p.m. at Taylor Drive Park.

“We want the Northside youth and Southside youth to come together with all citizens of the city. We hope that all youth from surrounding Pittsylvania County will come too. We need to give the community something fun to do.”

Jean Jackson, Founder of Mothers Stronger Twogether

During the event, there will be several activities, free food, games, open mic, raffles, a job fair, teen opportunities, and more.

A flier for the event can be found below.
