MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The Miss Henry County Fair Pageant may not be until early June, but county officials announced Monday that registration for the pageant is already open and will only be open until mid-May.
According to Henry County Parks and Recreation, the Miss Henry County Fair Pageant — presented by B99.9 radio, Southern Virginia’s Country Station — will be held on Saturday, June 5 at the Henry County Recreation Center in Collinsville.
“We are excited to have B99.9 as the sponsor of the pageant. Their station has been a very popular fixture in our community for decades and their sponsorship will be vital to promoting the pageant and the fair,” said Roger Adams, director of Henry County Parks and Recreation and the Henry County Fair.
The winner of the “Miss Category” for ages 17-22 will not only be the official pageant representative of the Henry County Fair, but the department says the winner will receive awards, prizes, a $500 scholarship, and a chance to compete in the 2022 Miss Virginia Fair competition at the Omni Homestead Resort.
Organizers say there are also eight other age categories, ranging from the “Beautiful Baby” category through the “Ms.” category. Each contestant in all of the age categories will reportedly receive a tiara and gift, with the winners collecting additional prizes.
However, the registration deadline for the pageant is May 17.
The Henry County Fair is scheduled for Sept. 22-25 at the Martinsville Speedway grounds, leading into the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 race at the speedway on Sept. 25.
