DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities are asking for the Danville community’s help to find a teenage boy facing multiple charges, as well as track down a vehicle — and its occupants — in connection with two separate shootings that took place less than two hours apart on Monday.

At approximately, 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, the Danville Police Department says officers responded to the 100 block of North Avenue for reports of gunfire.

Authorities tell WFXR News they determined that a gold SUV drove past a group of people in the 100 block of North Avenue while the occupant(s) of the SUV opened fire. However, a male individual in the group fired back at the SUV as it drove away.

While there are no reports of injuries from this shooting, a parked vehicle and a home were hit by gunfire.

According to officials, they obtained warrants to arrest 18-year-old Xzvaion Smith of Danville, for attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

As of this writing, police say they have yet to track down Smith.

“This is not believed to be a random act of violence as the individuals involved are believed to know each other,” the Danville Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

In addition, the department says detectives are looking for the gold SUV pictured below — which appears to be a GMC Terrain or a Chevrolet Equinox — in connection with the North Avenue shooting, as well as a separate incident that took place on Riverside Drive later Monday evening.
