DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities are trying to track down a man — who is considered armed and dangerous — in connection with robberies at two different stores in Danville Sunday night.
According to the Danville Police Department, the first robbery took place at the Food Lion grocery store at 1461 South Boston Rd at approximately 9:24 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22.
Then, at 9:40 p.m., while police were still on the scene of the first robbery, the department says a second robbery was reported at the Fas Mart convenience store at 1794 South Main Street.
Police say the offender pulled out a handgun and took money from the cashiers at both businesses.
Based on surveillance videos, investigators reportedly believe the same man robbed both stores.
The robber is described by authorities as a man — who may have a beard protruding from a face mask — who was wearing a red shirt in the Food Lion robbery and then a white shirt at the Fas Mart robbery.
“The jeans, shoes, mask, and physical features indicate the same individual is responsible for these two robberies,” the Danville Police Department said in a statement Sunday night. “We are thankful that no one was injured in either incident.”
According to the department, the suspect was last seen going south on Highway 86 into North Carolina.
However, the investigation into these robberies is still ongoing and active.
If you recognize the individual in the photographs above, you are encouraged to reach out to the Danville Police Department or your local law enforcement agency through 911. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000 to share information about these cases.
Police say a cash reward is possible for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
However, if you know or see this man, you are asked to avoid contact with him because authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous.
