DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Police in Danville are piecing together the circumstances surrounding a shooting that took place overnight at a convenience store, leaving two people injured.

According to a statement released by the Danville Police Department on Saturday, Sept. 4, officers responded to 911 calls about shots fired at the parking lot of 1415 Piney Forest Road — the site of a 24-hour convenience store — just before 3:30 a.m.

Shortly after those calls came in, police say a 29-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman arrived together at SOVAH’s emergency room with gunshot wounds. The man was reportedly shot in his upper torso and the woman was shot in the leg.

Authorities say the gunman was described as a man in his 20s with twists in his hair.

According to officials, they believe the victims and the alleged shooter know each other and that an argument led to the shooting.

If you have any information about the incident, you are asked to contact the Danville Police Department patrol division at 434-799-6510, the investigations division at 434-799-6508, or Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000.

Information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible will be eligible for a cash reward.
