SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WFXR) – Police in South Boston are investigating a shooting that left a 21-year-old dead.

According to authorities, the shooting took place around 11 a.m. Monday morning near the Taylor Lofts Apartments on Ferry Street.

Officers arrived and found evidence near the parking area.

While officers were investigating, they were told about a 21-year-old man who was brought to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

That man was identified as Kendall N. Dixon of Halifax.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators believe Dixon was shot while visiting the Taylor Lofts Apartments.

Police interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene and were able to identify Jamal I. Brandon, 21, of Halifax Road in South Boston as a suspect.

Brandon’s whereabouts are not known.
