DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Police in Danville have confirmed the identity of those who died in a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Piney Forest Road and Seminole Trail on Sept. 4.

The Danville Police Department says the driver of the vehicle, 54-year-old Brian Odell Bowden of Danville, and his passenger, 49-year-old Leanette Renee Tharp, died in the crash.

According to police, they say the Nissan sedan they were traveling in was driving at a high rate of speed, between 79 and 92 mph when it collided with a telephone pole and caught fire.

The department says next of kin have been identified for each victim and the investigation into this crash has concluded.
