Pittsylvania County Supervisors to purchase new fire trucks for two local fire agencies

Southside Virginia News

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved funding to purchase new fire trucks for the Cascade and Mount Cross Volunteer Fire Departments.

The motion was suggested by Tunstall District Supervisor Vic Ingram during a work session last week, which was ultimately passed.

The motion also establishes that all future purchases must go through the Fire and Rescue Commission’s apparatus replacement schedule, which includes a full inventory of every fire truck and ambulance in Pittsylvania County and is set to be approved during the Pittsylvania County Fire and Rescue Commission’s meeting on April 27.

The Commission works with the Public Safety Department to provide recommendations and oversee strategic planning for all fire and emergency medical services provided in Pittsylvania County.

Four citizen representatives, four fire and rescue representatives, and a representative from the Board of Supervisors make up the Commission, which was formed in March 2020.
