One resident injured in small apartment fire in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Heritage Towers Apartments Friday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, the Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 231 South Ridge Street.

When units arrived, they reported smoke coming from a second-story apartment. Bystanders were also stating that the apartment’s resident was suffering from unknown injuries.

Fire crews found the injured resident just outside of the apartment. Inside the apartment was a small fire.

Crews were able to extinguish the apartment fire. The injured resident was transported to Sovah Health with unknown medical injuries.

Residents in surrounding apartments were evacuated to a nearby shelter. They were able to safely return to their residences later on.

The fire is still under investigation.
