CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed a 76-year-old man on January 13.

Around 2:07 p.m. on Friday, James B. Goodman, 53, a resident of Petersburg, was driving a tractor-trailer east on Route 360 when he hit a GMC Yukon. Police said the driver of the GMC ignored a stop sign and entered the intersection where the two vehicles collided.

The Yukon flipped on the highway and the driver was ejected. Police say the impact of the crash also caused the tractor-trailer to flip and land on the median.

The driver of the Yukon was identified as Wood R. Baldwin, 76, of Keysville. He was taken to the University of Virginia Hospital where he passed away from his injuries.

Officials say Baldwin was not wearing a seatbelt.

Goodman was also taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. State Police say he was wearing a shoulder restraint during the crash.

No charges have been issued at this time.
