UPDATE 11:35 a.m.: Pittsylvania County authorities released the name of the man who died after deputies reportedly heard shots fired while responding to a noise complaint early Sunday morning.

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Deerwood Drive in Blairs for a “loud music” complaint on Sunday, May 15.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found an injured man, later identified as 25-year-old Wyshawn Daequon Brandon of Danville. He was was transported to Sovah Health, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.

Brandon’s body was brought to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke, who will then share the cause and manner of death with investigators and the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Officials expect to receive the initial autopsy results at some point this week.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses while trying to establish a motive for Brandon’s death. As of this writing, though, authorities say they have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Pittsylvania County authorities are investigating a shooting that took place in Blairs over the weekend, resulting in one person’s death.

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a noise complaint shortly before 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 15 in the 500 block of Deerwood Drive. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered a large gathering of people and heard multiple gunshots.

One person was found shot at the scene and taken to Sovah Health in Danville before being pronounced dead, authorities say.

That person’s body was reportedly brought to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death. Officials are not releasing the person’s identity until they notify the next of kin.

The sheriff’s office says authorities are still working to interview witnesses, but as of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made in connection with this ongoing investigation.
