HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened in Halifax County on Oct. 5.
According to state police, a Ford F-250 driven by James Collins was traveling east on Route 58 at around 2:41 p.m. Collins allegedly failed to stop at a red light, continued into the intersection of Route 58 and Route 501, and then hit a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck traveling south on Route 501.
The driver of the Chevy truck, James Medley, died at the scene. He reportedly was not wearing a seat belt during the incident.
Collins was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police say the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. WFXR News will update as more information is received.
