UPDATE 9:00 p.m.: Power has been restored to those customers previously out.
DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — More than 1,000 Danville Utilities customers around Southside Virginia are without power Tuesday after a crash damaged an electric pole along Route 58.
Danville Utilities says a car crash along Route 58 West in the Brosville and Axton communities shortly after 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, damaged a pole serving customers west of Whispering Pines Road.
Danville Utilities announced on Facebook just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday that crews are working to replace the pole, but the repairs are expected to take four to six hours.
Meanwhile, according to the Danville Utilities outage map, 1,078 customers are impacted by this outage as of 11:42 a.m. on Tuesday.
