Monday afternoon crash in Charlotte County leaves one driver dead, police say

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A fatal crash investigation is underway after a car collided with a tractor-trailer in Charlotte County Monday afternoon, leaving one man dead.

Virginia State Police say the crash occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6 along Route 40, less than a mile east of Route 618. 

According to authorities, a 1995 Ford Mustang was traveling west on Route 40, crossed the centerline, and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer head-on. 

Police say the man driving the Mustang died at the scene, but there is no word on the condition of the tractor-trailer driver at this time.
