Martinsville officer rescues kitty, now needs your help saving kitty’s life

Southside Virginia News

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Martinsville Officer Jayme Clark has found his purrfect partner! Last week, a stray cat appeared and stayed by the officer’s side, eventually winning him over. Now, the cat has a new home and a new name — Trip.

Unfortunately, according to the Martinsville Henry County SPCA, Trip did not get a clean bill of health during his vet visit. The rescued cat was diagnosed with severe stomatitis, a painful oral condition due to an overzealous reaction of the immune system to plaque accumulation on teeth.

In Trip’s case, every single tooth must be pulled.

Trip’s vet bill, which will include his dental and neuter costs, is estimated to be about $2,000. This is where the Martinsville Henry County SPCA is asking for your help.

The nonprofit has set up a Critical Care Fund at spcamhc.org/form/donate to raise funds for Trip and other animals like him.
