DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A Martinsville man was sentenced last month to 140 months in prison for possessing child pornography and possessing a firearm after having been previously convicted of a felony, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia.

According to court documents, in December 2019, a female minor reported having sexual contact with 38-year-old Terrance Antwain Penn on several occasions. The girl told police that Penn recorded this sexual activity on a phone and provided descriptions of Penn’s two cell phones.

On Dec. 7, 2019, officials say a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle Penn was driving. During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered two cell phones matching the minor’s descriptions, as well as a loaded Taurus, model G2C, 9mm semi-automatic pistol in the center counsel.

Investigators obtained search warrants for Penn’s phones, which reportedly contained videos of the defendant having sexual contact with the girl.

The case — which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with help from Homeland Security Investigations and the Martinsville Police Department — was reportedly prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristin B. Johnson.
