Henry County authorities investigating homicide after man found dead Monday

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide that took place Monday afternoon.

At 1:47 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that a person had been shot at 200 Lakewood Park Drive in Martinsville.

When deputies arrived on the scene a few minutes later, they found 20-year-old Jeremiah Jerron Turner dead inside his residence.

Authorities say it appears that Turner sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was reportedly transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia, where an autopsy will be performed.

As the investigation into the incident continued, deputies came to believe that a man came to the home, knocked on the door, and the resident allowed him to enter the home.

After entering, the sheriff’s office says the man was greeted by the victim, the two of them went into a bedroom, shots were fired shortly afterward, and the person ran away.

The individual is described as a white man who was wearing a hat, flannel shirt and jeans.
