HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — In an ongoing investigation into a fatal crash in Henry County, the school district identified 17-year-old Nick Pruitt — a senior at Magna Vista High School — as the person who was killed in the crash.
Three other students were also hurt in the single-vehicle crash, which Virginia State Police say occurred in the 5100 block of Soapstone Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4.
The Director of Communications for Henry County Public Schools, Monica Hatchett, says the goal at this time is to make sure students are coping.
“The Warrior community is certainly a close one, and we absolutely appreciate the outpouring of support that our community has shown today,” said Hatchett.
Shortly after the fatal crash, the Magna Vista School administration went classroom to classroom to tell students what had happened.
“Counselors were on hand, school psychologists were at the school all day providing support to them as needed, in the event that they needed to speak with someone,” said Hatchett.
She added that the immediate goal right now is to make sure students have the support they need on campus. Soon, they’ll start discussing the next steps.
“We typically in an emergency event, or in any type of tragedy, we like to work with a group of students to determine how they feel it’s best to pay honor and tribute to their classmates,” said Hatchett.
