HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Residents of the Ridgeway district in Henry County will have the opportunity to serve on the Henry County School Board (HCBS) through a special election this November.

According to school board officials, a writ of election was approved by Henry County Circuit Court Judge Jimmy McGarry on Friday, Aug. 5 in accordance with the Code of Virginia to add the Ridgeway seat to the Nov. 8 election ballot

WFXR News is told the open member spot comes following the death of Francis Zehr, the former HCBS Ridgeway district representative.

Anyone interested in running for election to serve on the Henry County School Board in the Ridgeway seat must live in the Ridgeway district and be a registered voter. County officials say interested candidates can contact Henry County Registrar, Dawn Stultz-Vaughn at 276-634-4696, or visit the registrar’s office at 3300 Kings Mountian Road.
