HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with second-degree murder after a shooting occurred on June 4.
Around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the 6000 block of Oak Level Road where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. The woman was transported to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
A witness told police that they saw someone run into the nearby woods.
Crews, along with K9 units, began searching for the subject in the area. A K9 led deputies to a nearby creek where they found 51-year-old Rueben Glass of Halifax allegedly hiding from law enforcement.
Deputies found a handgun in Glass’ possession when they made the arrest.
Glass was then charged with second-degree murder.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 434-476-3339.
