UPDATE 11:55 a.m.: Power crews are working to restore electrical service to customers who have been knocked out due to gusty winds passing through the area.

As of this update, the following localities are reporting outages:

  • Carroll County – 149 customers out

  • Pittsylvania County – 64 customers out

There are other localities with outages, but they are very isolated and sporadic.



(WFXR) – As winds continue increasing, we’re seeing the number of power outages across the area beginning to pick up.

Gusty northwest winds will continue through the day – switching more out of the west later tonight, but they’ll remain on the gusty side – possibly peaking as high as 50 mph at times – especially at higher elevations.

As of 10:55 a.m., here are the outages that Appalachian Power is reporting:

  • Henry County – 3,032 customers out
  • Patrick County – 786 customers out
  • Bedford County – 406 customers out
  • Giles County – 226 customers out
  • Montgomery County – 121 customers out
  • Carroll County – 118 customers out

On Dominion’s grid, the following outages are being reported:

  • Halifax County – 257 customers out
  • Pittsylvania County – 64 customers out

Other locations in the region are also reporting outages, but those are much more isolated.
