God’s Pit Crew arrives in Texas to help clean church devastated by a flash flood

TYLER, TX. (WFXR) – On Tuesday, Danville-based non-profit God’s Pit Crew arrived in Tyler, Texas to help clean up a church that was devastated by a flash flood.

Workers grabbed their tools to help tidy up the Southpoint Church of God.

Despite the church being located on a hill, church representatives tell WFXR’s sister station KETK that this is the seventh time the church has been flooded, but this last time, floodwaters rose higher than usual for an east-Texas summer.

Church representatives say as soon as repairs are complete, they plan to restart services; however, the church is still recovering from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the smaller church gatherings have proven to be difficult to raise funds for the repairs.
