HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR/WGHP) — Federal agents are refocusing efforts on finding who killed members of a Henry County family — Jennifer, Michael, and Mary Short — in 2002.
It’s been nearly 20 years since the family was murdered, execution style.
On Aug. 15, 2002, Mary and Michael Short were found dead in their Basset home. Michael was found on a couch in the attached garage, shot in the head. Mary was found in the bedroom, also shot in the head.
Their 9-year-old daughter, Jennifer Short, was missing. Investigators said she was taken from her bed. That sparked a massive search in Virginia and North Carolina.
Her body was found six weeks later, 45 minutes from her home, in a North Carolina creek.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office wants ‘fresh eyes’ to analyze all of the evidence in the case, hoping it will lead them to the killer.
