HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says after searching a home they found numerous weapons and homemade explosive devices.

The incident happened on Tuesday Oct. 4 at 10:10 p.m. on 55 Raceway Drive. Deputies say they went to the house to arrest Barry Wayne Witt for two outstanding warrants for Contempt of Court. As the arrest was happening a deputy noticed a weapon in the home that Barry was not allowed to have. After that deputies issued another search warrant against Barry for Purchase, Possess, Transport Firearm by a person Involuntarily Committed. 

After obtaining the warrant deputies searched the house and found weapons as well as what they believed to be explosive devices. They then called Virginia State Police (VSP) and bomb technicians safely removed the devices. VSP bomb technicians said the devices they found were in fact homemade explosives.

Authorities say Barry is currently being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still ongoing and other charges will likely be placed.
