UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: Crews have reopened the eastbound lanes along U.S. Route 58 in Halifax County following Tuesday morning’s tractor-trailer crash near South Boston, according to VDOT.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Halifax County commuters are asked to expect delays Tuesday morning due to a tractor-trailer crash closing down U.S. Route 58 East near South Boston.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), all eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 58 are closed near Huell Matthews Highway, Main Street, and U.S. Route 501 in South Boston.

VDOT says eastbound traffic is currently being detoured off U.S. Route 58 onto Route 708, onto Route 658, onto U.S. Route 501, and back onto U.S. Route 58.

However, traffic is reportedly delayed for about half a mile at this time.
