Danville Utilities worker burned while restoring service to Pittsylvania County customer Tuesday morning

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — A lineman with Danville Utilities was injured Tuesday morning while restoring power to a customer in Pittsylvania County who lost service during the winter storm over the weekend.

According to Jason Grey, director of utilities, the incident occurred on Sugartree Church Road around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

City officials say the worker was airlifted to a trauma center after he suffered burns, but the extent of those injuries is currently unknown. However, the worker was reportedly responsive and able to communicate with first responders.

The City of Danville says Brosville Volunteer Fire and EMS responded to the incident.
