DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — In order to save on future power supply costs, Danville Utilities is asking its customers to cut back on their energy usage for a few hours over the course of two days.

Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, Danville Utilities urges you to take the following actions:

  • Delay the use of major appliances, such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers.
  • Increase the temperature on your air conditioner thermostat by at least one degree and use fans.
  • Shut off any unnecessary lights.
  • Unplug small appliances and electric chargers, especially those with small lights.

According to Danville Utilities, there is nothing wrong with the power grid, but by reducing your electricity usage during peak hours, it could save you and the company money.
