DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The superintendent of Danville Public Schools shared some details Thursday about the school district’s 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, which was recently approved by the school board and aims at improving five areas of focus.

Those goals include student achievement, operations, staff learning and growth, partnerships and communication, and culture and climate.

Danville Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Angela Hairston says focusing on these goals will change the attitude inside schools and improve graduation rates. The hope is that educators and students will feel empowered to do more.

“We have to believe as a community, we must believe as parents, we must believe as educators that our children can excel and can do well,” said Dr. Hairston.

According to Dr. Hairston, while this is a five-year plan, she expects to see significant gains by next year when it comes to culture and climate, as well as student achievement and attendance.
