DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department (DPD) announced the community can expect to see a heavy police presence throughout the city of Danville starting next week.

According to a press release, DPD and Virginia State Police will be partnering as part of the state’s initiative to reduce crime throughout the community.

A data-driven analysis will be used to guide enforcement during the holiday season. The press release states the goal of the partnership is to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and violent crime.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the following areas:

•    Nor Dan Drive

•    Halifax Rd.

•    South Boston Rd.

•    Riverside Drive

•    Central Boulevard

•    Franklin Turnpike

•    Craghead Street

•    Memorial Drive

•    Mountain View Drive

•    South Main Street

•    West Main Street

Police say this partnership is not a response to any specific threat in the community.
