DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Police Department arrested a man accused in a South Carolina murder.

Officers took 46-year-old Antar Jeter into custody after receiving information from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) that he may be in the Danville area with his missing 5-year-old daughter from Orangeburg County, S.C.

Danville Police say at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 the Investigative Bureau was able to locate and identify Jeter. They say Jeter was wanted for homicide and grand larceny regarding incidents in Orangeburg County.

Police report he was driving a stolen 2015 Mazda. They located the missing 5-year-old, Aspen Jeter in the car. Police say the child was safely recovered and taken into the custody of law enforcement.

Antar Jeter was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He is being held pending extradition to South Carolina.

Danville Police say they have partnered with South Carolina authorities to assist in the investigation.
