DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – A man facing murder charges in connection with a shooting back in 2022 pled guilty in Danville’s court circuit on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Back on May 17, 2022, the Danville Police officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Richmond Boulevard just after 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had been shot outside his apartment. On the scene, a Danville man, later identified as Brandon Gore, was found with a fatal gunshot wound near the apartment complex’s K building.

Soon after the shooting, police quickly identified Andrew Menjivar as a person of interest for the case. He was arrested by Danville PD a few days later.

According to court documents, Menjivar was originally charged with second-degree murder, but on Thursday was ultimately charged and plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter. He also pled guilty to discharge of a firearm in public resulting in injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Danville Circuit Court system says Menjivar is set to be back in court for a pre-sentence report on Oct. 26.
