DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Danville first responders spent several hours at the scene of a vehicle fire that extended into a home Thursday night.

The Danville Fire Department says crews responded to a report of a vehicle fire at 122 Rosedale Court just before 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.

When units arrived a few minutes later, they reportedly noticed heavy smoke in the area before discovering a vehicle in the driveway that was heavily involved in flames, which extended into the home. However, the homeowner was already outside by the time first responders arrived.

According to fire officials, crews immediately began controlling the fire and entered the home to check for any other occupants, but an additional fire apparatus was called to the scene to assist.

The department says 20 personnel were on the scene for approximately two hours and 30 minutes, receiving some help on scene from the Danville Life Saving Crew, the Danville Electric Department, the Danville Water and Gas Department, and the Danville Police Department.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire at this time.

Officials say there were no injuries reported to fire personnel, but Red Cross was in contact with the homeowner for assistance.
