DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — For the first time since 2019, Danville will celebrate the free, family-friendly ‘Festival in the Park,’ which aims to promote both arts and community togetherness over the course of three days.

Even though the coronavirus pandemic put the festivities on hold for the past two years, Danville officials say the Festival in the Park board has worked hard to prepare for the event’s spring 2022 return.

According to organizers, there will be numerous events and activities at the Festival in the Park between Friday, May 13 and Sunday, May 15, including live musical entertainment, amusement rides, a movie in the park, a car show, a live art mural, and more.

“We’ve been planning how to bring back Festival in the Park better than ever,” said Jason Bookheimer, the Festival in the Park board president. “We’re excited to have so many activities and events planned and have so much support surrounding us.”

The schedule for the 2022 Festival in the Park is included below:

  • Friday, May 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. (with live entertainment)
    • Friday will be ‘wristband night,’ which means patrons will get unlimited rides for just $20.
  • Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (with live entertainment)
    • Crafter’s Row, featuring community members’ arts and crafts, will only be open on Saturday.
  • Sunday, May 15 from 1 to 6 p.m.
