DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Area Humane Society is looking for a dog that escaped Tuesday evening.

According to the humane society, the dog was adopted in February and the adopter attempted to bring her to the shelter after-hours on Tuesday, April 6. However, the adopter failed to close the door and the dog escaped.

Based on surveillance footage, the humane society says the dog hung around the parking lot, apparently waiting for her owner to return. After some time passed, she ran off toward the Riverwalk.

The Danville Area Humane Society is offering a reward of $250 for the person who finds the escaped dog.

The dog is a female black Lab mix that weighs about 30 pounds. She is wearing a pink collar.
