CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A man is dead and a woman has been hospitalized with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash occurred on Route 360 in Charlotte County early Saturday morning.
According to State Police, on March 11 around 5:31 a.m., a 2020 Toyota Carolla, driven by 25-year-old Sarah D. McCorkle, of North Carolina, was traveling east in the westbound lane when it struck a 2022 Toyota Carolla, driven by Akilimali Balagiz,61, of Maryland.
First responders swiftly arrived and transported McCorkle to the hospital with serious injuries. Balagiz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but it had been learned that both McCorkle and Balagiz were wearing seatbelts. Virginia State Police say charges are pending.
