DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Averett University will be holding Nurse Pinning and White Coat ceremonies on Friday at Averett’s Riverview Campus.

The Nurse Pinning Ceremony will occur at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7. Sixteen graduates of Averett’s Bachelor of Science in the nursing degree program will be presented their nursing caps and pins, and undergo the ceremonial “Blessing of the Hands” tradition.

At 1 p.m., the Nurse White Coat Ceremony will take place. Eight Averett Master of Science in nursing students will receive their white coats.

This ceremony would normally be conducted before the students’ first clinical experience. However, the COVID-19 pandemic altered ceremony plans for 2020. For 2021, all FNP students have been invited back to campus to participate in this ceremony if they choose.

The university will hold its in-person graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. on the E. Stuart James Grant North Campus in the Frank R. Campbell Stadium.
