PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Friday morning, the CEO and co-founder of AeroFarms, a world leader in indoor vertical farming, offered a special preview and site tour of the company’s new facility in Ringgold.

Gov. Ralph Northam announced in December 2019 that AeroFarms would invest $42 million to build an indoor farm at the Cane Creek Centre industrial park — a joint venture between the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County — and create 92 jobs.

On Friday, March 4, AeroFarms CEO and co-founder, David Rosenberg, and CMO and co-founder, Marc Oshima, held a meet-and-greet at the firm site. Company representatives also provided an update on the facility, hiring plans, and the timing of the launch.

“The operation, which will begin ramping up operations in the summer, will be the world’s largest vertical farm,” Pittsylvania County wrote on Facebook following the tour. “A variety of edible greens will be produced in this indoor facility. Aerofarms is creating approximately 100 jobs and has already begun the hiring process.”
