HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reports a body was found in a field near the 2600 block of Figsboro Road in Martinsville on April 3rd.
Around 7:05 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to the scene of a woman, who appeared to be unconscious, lying on the ground in a field. After approaching the woman, officers determined she was dead. The body has been identified as 88-year-old Rhoda Peters Fulcher of Martinsville.
Officers believe Fulcher left her home in the middle of the night, walked approximately 100 yards, fell down a steep hill, and suffered injuries, leading to her death.
Fulcher’s body has been transported for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
