DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Danville Utilities reported more than 5,000 customers are without power from the afternoon storms.

The company says they have received reports of trees and power lines down across the power grid. Crews warn people that if they come across a downed powerline to not touch or approach it. These lines can still be energized with electricity.

Crews are working to get the power back up for those impacted.
