HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The coronavirus pandemic may have led to a lot of cancellations and postponements over the last year, but the 13th annual Smith River Fest is gearing up to return to Henry County in August.
According to a Facebook post shared by Henry County Parks and Recreation on Thursday, March 4, the Smith River Fest — presented by J. Peyton Moore, DDS — will be back at the Smith River Sports Complex from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21.
While more activities will be shared soon, the Smith River Fest organizers announced the following activities for the event on Thursday:
- The Helgramite Hustle Mud Run, presented by Martinsville Eyecare Center.
- The Smith River Boat Race
- Free river tubing
- Live music and beer garden
- Joseph Young Magic Show
- Free river shuttles all day
- Animal exhibit and petting zoo
- Bounce houses
- Kids cycle station
- Water gun battle station
- Casting pool
- Food trucks
- Craft and outdoor recreation vendors
- Hammock Village
According to the Smith River Fest Facebook page, “A fun-packed day is being planned for folks of all ages. Some of your favorite activities will be returning, but we will also have a lot of new surprises for everyone to enjoy.”
This news comes after the 13th annual Smith River Fest was postponed from Aug. 22, 2020 to Aug. 21, 2021.
