SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (WFXR) – The Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.3 million grant to the SOVA Innovation Hub in South Boston, Virginia. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo made the announcement on Tuesday.

According to a release, the money will be used to bolster small business development in the region, creating a digital maker space, community gathering space, and co-working offices.

The investment will be matched with $492,389 in local money and is expected to create or retain 130 jobs and generate $1.1 million in private investment, according to SOVA Innovation Hub estimates.
