Slushy snow storm leads to traffic headaches

12:21: Cleared. Wreck on westbound on US 460 at mile marker 124 in Montgomery County. Exit ramp closed.

10:48: As of 11:15 AM, Blacksburg Transit will switch to INTERMEDIATE service. In addition, there are now wrecks on south I-77 at mile marker 15 in Carroll County, on south I-81 at MM 141 in Roanoke County, on south I-81 at mile 163 in Botetourt County, and on north I-81 at mile 109 in Montgomery County. As of 12:00, all are cleared. 

10:14: Wreck on southbound I-81 at mile marker 141 in Roanoke County, and a disabled tractor trailer at mile marker 6 northbound on I-77 in Carroll County. Both are cleared. 

5:36: I-77 also has snow and icy patches. VDOT reports snow on US 460 in Montgomery County, and icy patches in Lynchburg/Campbell County.  I-81 has icy patches as well, and US-11 has snow covering the roadway in some counties, and icy patches in others.

VDOT has issued a travel alert for our area. Drivers are advised that conditions range from isolated slick spots to snow covered, with snowfall continuing and temperatures dropping.

Snow and ice is being reported on roads in Campbell County and Lynchburg, as well as Amherst, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Nelson, Pulaski, and Wythe, counties. Roanoke City and County also have snow and ice on the road.
