Jewelry, furniture and vacation packages were just some of the items up for grabs at a Roanoke silent auction helping a good cause.
The Virginia chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers hosted its annual silent auction Thursday evening.
This year, participants had to use smartphones and other devices since all the bidding was done electronically.
Proceeds benefit Carilion Children’s Hospital. The money raised at the silent auction will go towards a redesigned playroom at the facility.
“There’s so much that goes into the cost of health care – the facility, the equipment, an MRI is not cheap,” said Jim Bohn, a design manager for Carilion Design Group. “And so there’s services, there’s activities that are part of that healing process.”
Organizers say about 300 people attend the auction every year.
