Seven inmates suspected of overdosing Saturday night, one dead at Haynesville Correctional Center

UPDATE: The Virginia Department of Corrections say six of the eight inmates suspected from overdosing have been released from the hopsital. Here is the information from the Virginia Department of Corrections:  

“Six of the eight offenders at Haynesville Correctional Center suspected of having overdosed yesterday have been released from the hospital.

Five of the offenders were sent to Riverside Tappahannock Hospital last night and two were sent to Rappahannock General Hospital. One offender remains at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital.

One of the eight offenders was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m. last night. The offender’s death appears to be the result of a suspected overdose; a medical examiner will determine cause of death. The deceased offender’s next of kin has been notified.

The overdoses were discovered around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, June 15.

It is unknown at this time what may have caused the suspected overdoses at the Haynesville, Virginia prison.

Visitation is canceled today at Haynesville Correctional Center and Haynesville Correctional Unit 17.”

“Eight offenders at Haynesville Correctional Center are suspected of having overdosed this evening. The overdoses were discovered around 7:15 p.m.

One of the eight offenders was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m. The offender’s death appears to be the result of a suspected overdose; a medical examiner will determine cause of death.

Offenders involved are receiving medical treatment. It is unknown at this time what may have caused the suspected overdoses at the Haynesville, Virginia prison.

Virginia Department of Corrections’ emergency response teams have been activated. Additional information will be made available as soon as possible.

Visitation is canceled for Sunday, June 16 at Haynesville Correctional Center and Haynesville Correctional Unit 17.”
